Drive Away More Easily With Revolutionary Driveway Turntable

Householders from Cumbria to Tenerife are finding access to their homes has been made easier by installing a revolutionary new driveway turntable from British Turntable Co. Originally conceived to provide a solution to the dangerous procedure of reversing onto or from a busy main road, the DriveAway is proving to offer several additional benefits to the householder.

Homes with a narrow entry, perhaps with high fences or hedges that restrict vision, or that have a long, winding, single track entrance, will find the DriveAway an indispensable tool, by reducing difficult vehicle manoeuvres and making it possible to negotiate awkward driveways more safely. The DriveAway is at once ingenious and simple. The vehicle is simply driven onto it and, when the time comes to drive off again, it can be pushed through 180° to point it in the right direction.

Young and old visitors to the BBC Gardeners World Show, where the DriveAway was launched, quickly discovered that turning the car requires only minimal effort. Retired couple, Mr and Mrs Wiley, have self-installed a DriveAway into a newly refurbished patio area at their home in Cumbria. "The area isn't large," says Mr Wiley, "making it difficult for us to manoeuvre and park two cars. The drive is also very long, so if we can't turn the cars round on the patio it's a long reverse out onto the road - not to be recommended in the dark or in icy weather! The DriveAway has solved the problem by allowing the second car to be turned round manually on its own axis."

Another DriveAway owner, Don Openshaw, has installed a unit at his home in Tenerife and says, "It's proving to be one of the best investments that I have made in many years. The driveway into my garage not only has a nasty slope, but has a bit of a dog-leg, too, making reversing-out into quite a busy road pretty scary. We often took the easy option and used the second car, which left one very under-utilised Ferrari Modena 360 collecting dust rather than kilometres. The turntable was easy to install, too. I installed it myself just before my 70th birthday, and we find it's extremely easy to rotate a car on it, even for my nine stone lady."

The economically priced DriveAway has been designed for self-installation on top of the driveway, however its low profile of 70mm means that it's also relatively easy to flush-fit the unit into the driveway. Robust enough to take the majority of family-sized vehicles up to 1800kg in weight, the DriveAway is also smooth in operation, built to withstand inclement weather conditions and requires little maintenance.
