Exhibit at Blackpool Pleasure Beach revolves heaviest man

A life-size replica of the world's heaviest man, Walter Hudson, has been drawing the crowds to Ripley's Believe It or Not museum at the world renowned Blackpool Pleasure Beach, thanks to a revolving carousel supplied by British Turntable.

The Midi Carousel CRMD 10 makes light work of carrying the 6' high figure, which, like the man it represents, is 103" round the waist. Despite the turntable's impressive carrying capacity of 1100lb, it may, however, have balked at carrying the real Walter Hudson, who at his death weighed in at 1400lb, a massive 100 stone.

PR Co-ordinator at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Laura Prentice, comments, "One of the benefits of using a turntable is that it allows an exhibit to be viewed through a full 360 degrees from a single vantage point, so we can maximise the space we have available. The real appeal, however, is that the movement attracts the eye and adds energy to the display - it really makes the exhibit come to life."

British Turntable have more than 40 years experience in the moving display industry and offer a wide range of turntables and movement for all areas of the heritage industry. As well as units for general display the company also designs, manufactures and installs large people movers such as the 28m diameter revolve in the Home Planet Zone of London's Millennium Dome and one at 9m in diameter installed at Bailey's Icon Centre, Dublin.
