Fragrant display drives sales

A standard B200 display turntable bought from British Turntable Co. almost ten years ago is still drawing customers into specialist perfumery and fragrance retail outlet, Burgins of York.

Burgins has been involved with perfumery retailing since 1880 and prides itself on sourcing fragrances that are unusual or have limited availability in the UK, such as Enigma, Royal Secret and Next Jean-Louis Sherrer. The turntable is therefore used in the shop window to display both specialist and global perfume and aftershave brands, and is changed regularly to attract tourists, promote special offers and to drive seasonal sales such as at Christmas and for Valentine's Day.

Burgins' owner, Leonard Yeo, says: "Movement always catches the eye, and this is borne out by the success we've experienced over the years using the turntable. The turntable opens up the window display area, creating an aesthetic focal point for our products, and allows us to change the display regularly. At Christmas time we place Santas on the turntable, which attracts children and, of course, their parents. The movement certainly stops passers-by and encourages them to step into the shop, where they are soon excited by the prospect of buying a particularly sought-after or unusual fragrance that will impress the receiver!"

The B200, available from British Turntable's comprehensive range of more than 100 standard display turntables, has been enhanced with glass shelves to increase the display area even further. This is similar to British Turntable's own Princess range, which comes with 3-, 4- and 5-shelf options complete with poles, collars and fixing nuts to create an attractive, eye-catching display medium without taking up valuable floor space.

A ceiling-mounted Princess is also available, extending the options even further.
