Greater Manchester Police Museum Gets the Bullet

The Greater Manchester Police Museum has brought life into the museum's transport gallery thanks to a Cyclone Bullet motorcycle turntable supplied by British Turntable Co.

The Bullet is used to rotate a patrol bike, complete with model rider, in a confined corner of the gallery, enabling it to be seen from all angles even by large groups.

Duncan Broady, curator of the museum, says, "We are a small museum, and space is at a premium, particularly in the transport gallery. However, vehicle enthusiasts are always keen to see a car or motorcycle from all angles, and the turntable has enabled this, even in the confines of our museum. "We've also noticed how the turntable brings the bike to life. Quite large groups can now see it from every angle, and because of this we've been able to include questions about the bike in our children's quiz."

The versatile and fully portable Cyclone turntables, which include the Bullet and the smaller Surf model, were originally designed to help motorcycle showrooms display new, special or promotional bikes in a more eye-catching way than might otherwise be achieved. Because of their shape they take up very little space, and are particularly useful as window displays to attract passers-by. As the Greater Manchester Police Museum is finding out, however, they are equally at home in a heritage environment, and the Cyclone has also scored hits at product launches, major automotive and motorcycle exhibitions in the UK and Europe.

British Turntable has been creating attractive display options using movement since 1959 and now offers over 100 standard products. The company has recently become one of only a few organisations to be registered to the updated BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 standard.
