Movetech UK win Park and Slide distribution rights

Movetech UK has been awarded exclusive rights to distribute the sliding car parking system, Park and Slide, across the UK. Twenty countries in mainland Europe are also included in the distribution rights, including France, Germany, Holland and Spain. Based in Bolton with a depot in Loughton, Essex, the turntable manufacturer and movement specialists will be seeking to extend their existing distribution network, which is already active in marketing and selling the company’s standard range of display and industrial turntables across the UK and Europe.

Park & Slide is an innovative parking system that, through a system of slides and runners, allows a vehicle to be pushed to one side, making more space available for further vehicles to be parked or stored. Invented in the North East by business colleagues Ken Riley and David Carr, the first Park & Slide was developed to allow two large vehicles to fit into a standard residential garage.

The system provides a cost-effective alternative to currently available automated systems. The domestic range includes specialised car, motorcycle and ATV parking products, some incorporating turntables where turn round space is restricted. The commercial range enables narrow, awkward spaces in commercial car parks to be used to full extent.

“I became frustrated at not being able to get my second car into my garage without damaging it,” explains Ken Riley. “David and I began working on a solution, starting with a large slide that allowed the first car to be pushed against the garage wall and creating more space for the second car.

“Further development of the product means we now have a solution to inner-city parking problems. Not only does the system save space, but it saves on building costs as well; vehicle parking has become more of a planning issue, and this concept provides a cost-effective alternative to an automated system.

“We are very excited about the possibilities offered through Movetech UK’s particular expertise and the company’s involvement in Park & Slide distribution.”

Tim Entwistle, Managing Director of Movetech UK, is delighted with the new addition to the company’s extensive portfolio of movement solutions. “To do justice to the potential of the Park & Slide we will be actively seeking additional distributors in the UK and Europe.” he says. “In addition we will be looking at attending a number of trade shows to showcase and demonstrate the Park & Slide.

“The markets for the product are vast. Home owners, house builders, architects, local authorities, outdoor leisure facilities and the agricultural sector are just a few of the areas that we will be targeting, and to ensure we can meet initial demand we have already committed to 50 units.”

The Park & Slide is already enjoying success in the USA, Canada and Mexico through a manufacture and distribution agreement with US company, Harding Steel. Movetech UK will extend this network through the company’s contacts across Europe.
