New parking system from Movetech UK creates extra storage for bikes

A new patented parking system from Movetech UK, the Park & Slide, promises to create more storage space for motorbikes and scooters in a domestic garage, potentially reducing the opportunity for damage and adding an extra element of security.

The motorcycle turntable and slide unit was developed when a motorcycle enthusiast was finding it difficult to manoeuvre his machine into and out of a hard-to-access parking area. Through an ingenious combination of runners and a turntable the motorcycle can be turned to face the exit then pushed into the desired parking position. The turntable can then be locked as a further safety precaution.

The motorcycle and scooter unit was recently showcased alongside the original standard car unit at the Northern Indoor Classic Car Show in Manchester, where classic car and motorbike enthusiasts were quick to see the benefits of the system when storing several vehicles safely.

David Houghton, Technical Sales Director of Movetech UK, is delighted to be introducing the Park & Slide to the domestic market. "Bike owners, especially classic bike enthusiasts and racers, often have more than one bike as well as a family car. Storage can be a problem, and this is where the Park & Slide comes into its own," he comments.

"The original concept for the Park & Slide system was for a car unit, which was developed to combat the lack of space in so-called ‘double' garages that in reality do not allow two cars to be driven in and parked easily.

"But Park & Slide now comes in many shapes and sizes. As well as the car and motorcycle units, the domestic range includes specialised vehicle and ATV parking products, ideal for the home owner and for new build housing developments.

"There are also units that enable narrow, awkward spaces in commercial car parks to be used to their full extent."
