Princess Still in a Spin After 16 Years
A Princess revolving display unit supplied by British Turntable more than 16 years ago is still spinning after 16 years, attracting customers to VideoVaudeVille in Folkestone, Kent and helping to drive sales.
Proprietor, Dave Bryceson, who uses the PR4 glass-shelved unit in his window to catch passers-by in the street, regularly changes the display to promote new releases, different types of film or to sell ex-rental stock.
“It’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought,” he says. “It seemed expensive at the time, but it’s never gone wrong and has outlived three cash tills, two computers, seven hoovers and at least ten VCRs. It’s in operation 11 hours per day, 50 weeks of the year and is still spinning as I speak after more than 16 years!
“Before we turned to movement I used ordinary shelves in the window, but using a revolve means I can display three times more stock in the same space.”
The Princess range of movement consists of an attractive, covered revolving base supplied with a central pole in chrome and glass shelves, including all fixing accessories. It is available with three, four or five shelves, and there is even a ceiling-mounted version, which allows stock to be displayed in an area that would not otherwise be used. It is probably the most attractive of British Turntable’s standard retail display revolves, which now number more than 100 in diameters from 12cm upwards. The huge range of options available means that most sizes of outlet and budgets can be accommodated with movement economically.
Movement in display is a very efficient means of increasing sales – by more than 30% over a static display according to research conducted by Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI). As British Turntable’s products are quiet and reliable they also represent an extremely cost-effective method of boosting sales.
