Real Radio Rides High With Revolving Sign
Real Radio of Leeds has been given a profile lift thanks to an unusual and eye-catching external sign designed by Grafix Signmakers using a revolving sign mechanism from British Turntable Co.
The sign comprises four 2m wide and 1m high fascias, each of which is internally illuminated, supported on a 3m high central pole, an ambitious structure, given the exposed location. The radio station occupies a prime, elevated position just off J27 of the M62, and the sign therefore called for a design, materials and manufacture that would withstand the elements, at the same time presenting an attractive facade to passing motorists.
When Keith Ormiston, Managing Director of Carlisle-based Grafix Signmakers, approached British Turntable for assistance he was immediately recommended a ST700 sign mechanism, which is designed with external applications in mind and is completely weatherproof. "British Turntable offers such a wide range of revolving sign mechanisms that it really came as no surprise that they could offer us a unit 'off-the-shelf', so to speak," explains Keith Ormiston. "We pride ourselves in offering solutions to difficult problems, not unlike British Turntable, and when we gave them our demanding specification for the Leeds sign, they had no hesitation in recommending the ST700. We are delighted at how the sign has turned out and with the prompt service we received from British Turntable."
In addition to the revolving sign, Grafix has also provided Real Radio with interior point of sale material and corporate signing.
