Riveting By Design!

An interactive display has been created in the new Celtica Museum in Machynlleth, Wales simply by using a Mini Carousel from British Turntable's new Carousel range.

Alan Morgan of Riveting Designs, who designed the piece, is over the moon about the design capabilities offered by movement. His latest project, an exciting, noisy and positively creepy 'reveal', has certainly benefited. Visitors quite simply press a button to activate the tableau. A piece of rock shakes then moves back to reveal a cavern and its monster inhabitants. Preparing for a cannibalistic feast, they jabber away, firstly at a whisper then shouting louder and louder in time to spine-chilling music until, with a final crescendo the 'stone' crashes back into place, concealing the cavern. "The movement adds so much life," comments Alan Morgan, "and the amazing thing is that British Turntable supply it 'off the shelf'. Even though we needed hesitation and a lot of electronic wizardry, the cost was very reasonable, and delivery excellent."
British Turntable is no stranger to providing special effects for museums and visitor centres, with installations including anything from small display items to inventive interactive displays like the Celtica 'reveal' and large people movers in Bailey's Icon Centre, Dublin, and the Millennium Dome. The company has also been supplying standard and custom-made movement to industries as diverse as retailing, heavy engineering, exhibitions, TV, film and video, aerospace and automotive for more than 40 years. Turntables range in size from 12mm diameter upwards, with larger revolves capable of carrying a military tank or an aeroplane.
