Turning Towers Rise to the Task

Midi Carousels from British Turntable have allowed communications specialists, West End Studios, to create striking revolving displays of auto accessories for their clients, BK Racing and Powerflow Exhausts.

The exhibition stand was divided to incorporate three Midi Carousel turntables, surmounted by towers on which were displayed a range of new alloy wheels and custom-fit exhaust systems. West End Studios added lightboxes on top of the towers, adding impact and focus to the rotating displays.The high visitor numbers experienced on the stand were put down to the novel and contemporary nature of the display, where the movement added excitement and attracted passers-by more easily.

Derek Todd of West End Studios was delighted with the result: "It was very helpful to receive a full technical specification before we committed to buying the turntables," he says, "as the sheer height and weight of the displays had to be managed correctly. The towers made quite a feature at the show!"

Movement in display can be a potent tool in driving sales in a competitive market such as the auto and motorcycle aftermarket as it adds panache and value to the products on view. In the retail environment, movement in display can increase sales by more than 30% simply by attracting the eye more readily. This phenomenon was manifested at the Autosport 2004 show by the high number of visitors who were persuaded to take a closer look at what was on offer.

The Midi Carousels used in the displays were chosen from British Turntable's range of display movement, which now includes more than 100 standard products. At 1m in diameter, with the facility to extend out to a diameter of 1.8m, the units can take a maximum distributed load of 500kg up to 2.44m high, and can be supplied with a range of optional extras such as slip rings to enable display lighting while rotating, variable speed, contra-rotation or oscillation, timed or positional hesitation, static centre and a chromed rotating pole.
